Hypothyroidism in Women
Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) is a common condition which is fairly common in women in the menopause years. Symptoms include weight gain, fatigue, thinning of hair and brittle fingernails, loss of eyebrows, feeling cold, and loss of mental clarity.
Martha evaluates and treats this condition, hypothyroidism, which is often underdiagnosed and undertreated by conventional medicine.
She is an advocate of prescribing T3 compounds and use of desiccated thyroid prescriptions to customize thyroid treatment which is critical to feeling well (especially in women diagnosed with Hashimoto's). This is a practice that was pioneered and promoted by the late Dr. Kenneth Blanchard.
